School District U-46, founded in 1948, is the second largest public school district in Illinois, offering a wide range of educational programs to more than 40,000 students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. With a mission to provide world-class education to every student, they are committed to ensuring that each student succeeds acadically, is ready for the post-secondary pathway of their choice, and graduates ready to contribute to the global community. The district headquarters are located in Elgin, Illinois, but it serves over 90 square miles, containing 40 elementary schools, 8 middle schools, and 5 high schools across the cities of Elgin, Bartlett, Hanover Park, South Elgin, Streamwood and Wayne, with parts of Carol Stream, Hoffman Estates, St. Charles, Schaumburg, and West Chicago.
